Cape May Tech is a vocational school district located in Cape May County, with direct access to the local saltmarsh behind Stone Harbor/Avalon, known as the Great Sound. The Natural Sciences career and technical program works with many aspects of nature, including collecting data on local osprey populations in the Summer time and reporting the findings to NJ Fish and Wildlife: Conserve Wildlife Foundation Osprey Project. One of the general items of data we have collected is active osprey nests that need to be replaced. This project looks to have Natural Sciences students along with Carpentry students construct osprey nesting platforms to be installed in the surrounding local salt marshes as needed. With this project we hope to replace existing nests that are falling down and add in a few new ones as the osprey population continues to grow in our County.
